Construction of the new Lörrach District Hospital began in 2020 with the ground-breaking ceremony, on a site covering 19,000 m². Over a construction period of approximately five years, a state-of-the-art hospital with a usable floor area of 43,000 m² is to be built on the outskirts of Lörrach.
It comprises the new hospital, a mental health centre, a German Red Cross ambulance station, a medical centre and a health and wellness centre.
The new hospital will bring the four existing hospital sites together under one roof. The campus will bring together a wide range of modern inpatient and outpatient care services for patients and offer attractive jobs for staff.
Following the granting of planning permission in May 2021, work on the structural shell could begin. The structural shell was completed in less than two years. The final handover to the hospitals and the start of operations are scheduled for 2026
